Only five courses are needed to complete the degree

That’s it! …except you should read all the notes and cautions below

One elective can be an introductory course4 (STAT 2205 or 2346).

STAT 222, 224, 226 can be taken in any order, but PBHS 327 (=STAT 227) requires STAT 224 prior.

Not every combination of elective courses is allowed.
Students are encouraged to obtain course advising early from the Adviser for Statistics Minors.

Caution! Note these important rules:

1 Do not take both STAT 226 and 227!
Students may count either STAT 226 or PBHS 327 (=STAT 227), but not both, toward the Statistics Minor.

2 At most two electives offered by departments other than the Department of Statistics may be included.
STAT 227 (=PBHS 327) is an exception (since it simply serves as a substitute for a Department of Statistcs course: STAT 226). Students may petition the Department Adviser for Minors to include more than two electives from outside the Department of Statistics.

3 At most one elective can be satisfied by a course offered by the Booth School of Business.**
Further, early convocation final grades are not given for BUSN 3XXXX-level and higher courses. A Booth course cannot be counted toward the Statistics minor if taken during the quarter in which the student will graduate from the College. However, early convocation final grades will be given for graduating students in BUSN 2XXXX-level courses. The Booth Registrar’s Office will coordinate with instructors to issue early final grades for graduating students in College-level Booth courses. If you plan to take a Booth course and wishes to count it toward the STAT minor, please register using the BUSN 2XXXXX course number and double check with the instructor that an early final will be given.

4 At most one introductory Statistics course (STAT 220, 234) may be used as an elective and …
it must not be used to fulfill a requirement for any major(s), other minors, or general education requirements and if taken prior to any course for which at least STAT 220 or 234 is prerequisite (and prior to taking STAT 244-245 or 24410-24510).

5 AP Statistics credit for STAT 220 cannot be used to fulfill a requirement for the Statistics minor. If you complete either STAT 220 or 234, you forego your AP Statistics credit for STAT 220.

6 Do not take both STAT 220 and 234!
If either STAT 220 or 234 are used to fulfill a requirement for any major(s), other minors, or general education requirements, then neither course may be used to fulfill a requirement in the Statistics minor.

7 At most one elective can be on machine learning

8 No courses in the Statistics minor can be double counted with the student’s major(s), other minors, or general education requirements. An approved elective must replace any course required for the Statistics minor that is used to meet the requirements for any major(s), other minors, or general education requirements.

9 Grading: A quality grade of C or better is required for all of the courses counted toward the minor. A grade of P is not acceptable for any of these courses.
