There are several “first” Statistics courses for students with different math preparations and goals. Ordered from elementary to advanced, they are

STAT 20000 = 20010 < 118-119 \(\approx\) 220 < 234 << 244-245 < 24410-24510

Please note that STAT 200, 20010, 118-119, 220, 234, 244, 24410 are NOT in sequence. None of these courses is a prerequisite for any of the others. For example, you don’t have to take STAT 200 before 220, or 220 before 244 etc. You can go straight to STAT 220, 234, 244, or 24410 if you meet the corresponding prerequisites. On the other hand, those elementary ones do NOT prepare you for the advanced ones. For example,

Generally, most students only need to take ONE of STAT 200, 20010, 220, 234, 244 and 24410.
