If you don't meet the prerequisites listed above, what should you do?

  1. I don't have a computer account on the Sun cluster.

  2. I need to have Stata 5.0 or higher.

Although Stata can be accessed from mach in the Sun Unix cluster, it is not possible to view graphics when using Stata there unless you are running X-windows. The best solution is to purchase a copy of SmallStata from the Campus Computer Stores. Versions are available for both Macintosh and PCs. These versions of Stata contain the full capabilities of Stata except that they are limited in the sizes of the data sets they can handle. The Campus Computer Stores also sells the Stata User Guide, the Stata Reference Guides (three volumes), and other Stata-related products.
