Housing, transportation, and parking information

Dear Colleagues,

Lodging. We do not have a preferred hotel. You are free to choose from a wide range of accommodation options in the Stanford/Palo Alto/Menlo Park vicinity from this website and also this website or a Google search of Stanford area hotels. For inexpensive housing options, check out the following places.

• Hotel California. A friendly B&B place with wireless. Rate: $80.00 + tax per night. You can take a shuttle to campus or walk about two miles.
• Stanford Guest House. This is located at the SLAC facility. Group Rate: $109 (no tax) per night. Bus runs to campus during day.
• Cardinal Hotel. A dignified old hotel in the center of Palo Alto. Special MMDS rates: $99 per night for standard room; and $65 per night for shared bath European style room. Within a long walk to campus — about a mile and a half to the event location.

Transportation. The Stanford campus is easily accessible via the free Marguerite Shuttle, the Caltrain rail service, and the VTA buses and light rail. Click here for detailed directions. If you need shuttle transportation to/from the airport, please make your own reservations, preferably 24 hours in advance:

• South and East Bay Airport Shuttle (800-548-4664 or 408-225-4444). Reservations not required but recommended. Operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
• Super Shuttle (800-258-3826, 415-558-8500 or 650-558-8500). Reservations not required but recommended. Operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
• VIP Airport Shuttle (800-235-8847 or 408-885-1800). Reservations required. Operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Parking. If you will be driving, check out this page for parking information.

• Plentiful free parking is available at the Stanford Shopping Center, located a 25-minute walk or a 10-minute Marguerite ride away from Stanford.
• $1.50/hour coin-metered spaces (up to 10 hours) and Pay & Display lots are located throughout the campus. Parking is free on Saturday and after 4pm on weekdays. The locations may be found on this searchable campus map.
• You may also buy a one-day visitor scratcher permit which allow parking in Pay & Display lots and at meters. These are available for $12 each at the PT&S office (open weekdays 7:30am–5pm) located at 340 Bonair Siding.
