Only five courses are needed to complete the degree

That’s it! …except you should read all the notes and cautions below

One elective can be an introductory course3 (STAT 2204 or 234)5,6.

STAT 222, 224, 226 can be taken in any order, but PBHS 227 (=STAT 227) requires STAT 224 prior.

Not every combination of elective courses is allowed.
Students are encouraged to obtain course advising early from the Adviser for Statistics Minors.

Caution! Note these important exceptions:

1 Do not take both STAT 226 and 227!
Students may count either STAT 226 or PBHS 327 (=STAT 227), but not both, toward the Statistics Minor.

2 At most two electives offered by departments other than the Department of Statistics may be included.
Students may petition the Department Adviser for Minors to include more than two electives from outside the Department of Statistics. Regardless, at most one elective can be satisfied by a course offered by the Booth School of Business. Further, due to the course grading policies of the Booth School of Business, their courses cannot be counted toward the Statistics minor if taken during the quarter in which the student will graduate from the College.

3 An introductory course may be used as an elective if…
it is not used to fulfill a requirement for any major(s), other minors, or general education requirements and if taken prior to any course for which at least STAT 220 or 234 is prerequisite (and prior to taking STAT 245 or 24510).

4 AP Statistics credit for STAT 220 cannot be used to fulfill a requirement for the Statistics minor.

5 AP Statistics caution: If you complete either STAT 220 or 234, you forego your AP Statistics credit for STAT 220.

6 Do not take both STAT 220 and 234!
If either STAT 220 or 234 are used to fulfill a requirement for any major(s), other minors, or general education requirements, then neither course may be used to fulfill a requirement in the Statistics minor.
